The 2027 Honda Passport TrailSport gains a substantially revised suspension, more ground clearance, new styling details and additional standard equipment
Honda is giving the 2027 Passport TrailSport a meaningful update aimed at drivers who want even more capability from the midsize SUV.
Following the major redesign introduced for the 2026 model year, the latest Passport TrailSport receives a taller suspension setup, revised exterior details and added equipment designed to strengthen its adventurous character.
One of the most noticeable changes is underneath the vehicle. The 2027 Honda Passport TrailSport now offers 9.65 inches of ground clearance, up from 8.27 inches on the previous version.
That means the SUV gains nearly 1.4 inches of additional clearance, giving drivers more room when traveling over uneven terrain.
Honda Reworked Much Of The TrailSport Suspension
The increased ride height comes with significant mechanical changes.
Honda says approximately 70% of the major suspension components have been redesigned or modified for the updated Passport TrailSport.
The changes include components such as the control arms, springs and stabilizer bars.
Honda also improved several important off-road measurements.
The approach angle increases from 23 degrees to 25 degrees, while the departure angle now reaches 25 degrees as well.
The breakover angle rises from 20 degrees to 23 degrees.
These updates are designed to give the Passport TrailSport greater flexibility when traveling over steep entrances, uneven surfaces and challenging trails.
Rugged Styling Gets New Details For 2027
The 2027 Passport TrailSport also receives several exterior changes.
Honda added more pronounced design elements around the front and rear wheel arches, while the lower section of the front bumper has been redesigned.
Another noticeable addition is a pair of amber LED lights positioned in the decorative intake area above the grille.
The color lineup also expands with the introduction of Smoke Blue Pearl.
Buyers who prefer a darker appearance will also find updated black exterior trim as part of the available Blackout package.
TrailWatch Is Now Standard
Honda is also expanding the Passport TrailSport’s standard equipment list.
The TrailWatch camera system is now included as standard equipment.
The technology gives drivers a clearer view of the area surrounding the SUV when navigating trails or tight off-road sections.
A heated steering wheel also becomes standard.
Previously, these features were more closely associated with the higher-end TrailSport Elite trim.
Honda has also made steering adjustments intended to provide more precise response behind the wheel.
The Passport Remains A Two-Row SUV
Even with its growing off-road focus, the Honda Passport remains designed for everyday usability.
The SUV shares architecture with the larger Honda Pilot but uses a shorter body and a two-row, five-passenger layout.
The Pilot offers three rows of seating and can accommodate seven or eight passengers depending on configuration.
The Passport’s smaller footprint helps make it easier to maneuver while still providing plenty of interior space for passengers and cargo.
How Much Will The 2027 Honda Passport TrailSport Cost?
As of September 2026, Honda had not yet announced official U.S. pricing for the 2027 Passport lineup.
For reference, the 2026 Honda Passport TrailSport started at $50,145, including destination charges.
The higher-spec 2026 Passport TrailSport Elite started at $54,145.
With the updated suspension, new standard equipment and styling changes, pricing for the 2027 model could increase when Honda releases the complete lineup details.
2027 Honda Passport TrailSport Arrives In September
The updated SUV is expected to reach U.S. Honda dealerships in September 2026.
With 9.65 inches of ground clearance, extensive suspension revisions, standard TrailWatch cameras and updated styling, the 2027 Passport TrailSport expands its outdoor-focused capabilities while maintaining the comfort and practicality expected from a midsize five-passenger SUV.
